Πλήρης Περιγραφή
A 3-hour hands-on cooking class in a real family home in a Troodos foothills village ~40 minutes from Limassol — not a hotel demonstration kitchen, not a class for 30 people. Maximum 8 participants around one long table. With a local Cypriot host, you cook a full Cypriot meze (a meal of 6–8 small plates shared over a long lunch): halloumi (the PDO-protected indigenous cheese, formed by hand and pan-grilled), tzatziki, pourgouri (the Cypriot cracked-wheat pilaf, not the Greek lemon rice you've seen elsewhere), sheftalia (Cypriot caul-fat sausages), tomato-cucumber-feta salad, and loukoumades (honey-soaked doughnuts) for dessert. Eat what you cooked, with house wine and a closing shot of zivania (Cypriot pomace spirit, 45%+ ABV, traditional). Round-trip transport from Limassol included. €58 adult, €34 child. Daily at 10:30, year-round. From Michael Economou, Exyde Founder & Head Curator. Two things most cooking-class listings get wrong, that this one fixes. First: meze is not a starter selection — it is the whole meal, paced over 90 minutes, with the bread and olives going first and the meat going last. We cook the way Cypriots actually eat, not the way menus on tourist strips simplify. Second: halloumi is the headline reason most travellers book a Cyprus cooking class, and most classes do the easy version (slice pre-made halloumi, grill it, plate it). Here you form the curd by hand from heated sheep-and-goat milk and salt it; you'll see the structure that makes proper halloumi squeak when you bite. Note: full halloumi-making takes longer than the 3-hour slot allows for one block — we shortcut the rennet stage and you finish a small block to take home (warm). Itinerary. 0:00 hotel pickup from the Limassol seafront strip (Olympion Beach through Limassol Marina). 0:40 arrival at the village home — a short welcome on the terrace with frappe (iced coffee) and a small plate of olives. 0:55 cooking begins: we work in pairs at the long table, alternating who's on which dish. 0:55 the halloumi block (the slowest part — sits while we cook the rest). 1:20 sheftalia (forming the caul-fat sausages). 1:45 pourgouri (the cracked-wheat pilaf, simmered while we make the salad). 2:05 tzatziki, tomato-cucumber-feta salad, finishing the halloumi. 2:20 loukoumades dough rests; the table is set. 2:30 sit down to eat the meze with house wine — 30 minutes of actually being a guest in a Cypriot home. 3:00 fried loukoumades for dessert with thyme honey, zivania toast to close. 3:15 return drive. 3:55 hotel drop-off (slight overrun from the strict 3-hour cook window because meze can't be rushed). Practical. Group size 4–8. Real home environment — small bathroom, one cat on premises (let us know about allergies). Vegetarian variant: substitute the sheftalia with grilled vegetables and an extra cheese course. Vegan with 72 hours' notice (the rebuild is significant — halloumi is replaced by a vegetable course, and the meze structure shifts). Aprons provided. Knife skills are not required; the host walks you through every cut.
